Different Types of Boiler Installation

Regular Boiler Installation

Regular, more traditional boilers are installed in homes and use an existing hot water cylinder as well as a cold water and additional storage tank. A regular boiler may be the best option for replacing an existing boiler if the property has an older radiator system, as it might not be able to cope with the higher water pressure that is delivered by system or combi boilers. The main benefit of a regular boiler installation is therefore that you can upgrade to a more efficient modern boiler without having to replace your entire existing central heating system.

These boilers are compatible with solar water heating systems for a lower carbon footprint and lower energy costs. They are also a good option in areas where water pressure is low.

System Boiler Installation

System boilers are the perfect choice for homes with more than one bathroom or shower room where hot water is in high demand. They are an economical boiler solution that offers you and your family a constant supply of hot water. Modern system boilers use a cylinder to store hot water, however the major heating and hot water system components are built into the boiler itself making it quicker and easier to install. This boiler also gives you the flexibility to remove your existing water tank so you can make the most of your loft space and eliminate any worries you may have about leaks or frost damage.

These boilers are also compatible with solar water heating systems for a lower carbon footprint and lower energy costs.

Combi Boiler Installation

One of the most popular Worcester Bosch boilers we install is the combi boiler, a high efficiency water heater and central heating boiler in a single compact unit. They are also very cost-efficient as water is heated instantly rather than being heated and then stored in a cylinder. Another benefit is that the hot water is delivered at mains pressure, which means that you could have a powerful shower without the need to use a separate pump. Our combi boilers are available in different capacities and have ample pressure making them capable of serving homes of all sizes. We also offer a ten-year warranty and five years free boiler servicing on all the new Worcester Bosch boilers we install*.

*The 5-year free service does not transfer to a different boiler if you move home

To give you an example of what we can achieve:

  • We can install a full central heating system within 3-5 days in a standard 3 bedroomed house
  • We can install an unvented hot water cylinder and a system boiler in 3 days
  • We can install a combi boiler within 2 days

All of the above work is subject to there being no major remedial work required.

British Standards BS 7593:2019

We comply with British Standards BS 7593:2019 which covers the preparation, commissioning and maintenance of domestic heating and cooling water systems and helps drive best practice in whole system health and not just boiler protection. BS 7593:2019 is applicable to all closed loop heating systems and cooling circuits and includes that:

  • A permanent in-line filter is required on all systems – in addition to a chemical clean and fresh water flush
  • The in-line filter should be serviced annually and as part of the recommissioning process
  • Every year a water test must be undertaken, to assess the level of inhibitor and the system’s cleanliness
  • Biocide is required in cooling and low temperature heating systems (that run below 60 degrees) and should be considered for higher temperature systems during periods of downtime.
  • Inhibited antifreeze should be used in systems liable to freezing
  • Measures to improve recommended cleaning methods have been introduced, including the use of external magnetite capture equipment and the mechanical vibration of radiators
  • Inhibitor must now be re-dosed every five years if a full system water test is not undertaken.

Why is this important?

It significantly improves the length of service and the efficiency of heating and cooling systems. Poor water quality is the reason the majority of boilers that fail in their first year so taking a greater responsibility for system health and cutting down on needless waste can only be a good thing.
